"Boundaries and Bewilderment"

This is a new poem by Paul Papasavas.  - poetheart 02/14/02

Our everyday glance at the ordinary
Quite often turns into a realm of
The extraordinary

Our feelings and an understanding
Of the most basic things seem to
Change…the longer we look at them

Almost with regularity, we
Irregularly accept our new view
And wonder if our abstraction
Is something unique to ourselves

Pushing towards an unearthly
View followed by a breakdown
To the molecular components
Understanding the relationships

And then letting things process
Empirical views and then mystical
Imagery, all of the same thing…
Our mind going deeper

But one can never know what
This new view or understanding
Will tell…partially because
We have no time to prepare

The images that come to light
Strike us as a revelation and sometimes
A purpose

We push our boundaries and climb
Our ladder as we blindly reach
For the next rung…expecting
SOMETHING to be there…

We offer our blind hope…
As we extend our hands
Our minds and our boundaries
