"Dark Road"

Paul's new poem is a little eerie but I liked its unique portrayal.  - poetheart 08/03/03

A quiet moment
A lonesome fear
A heartbeat ringing
A passing deer

Swerving steadily
I steered my car
To veer right and left
But not so far

A cry and yonder
Lay a small white doe
My tears are dropping
Its soul shall go

It meant no harm
I turned with might
It was not my fault
It was natures bite

Its eyes stared on
As my beams lit up
The sky and road
Before it was struck

Should I be alarmed
Or should I just move on
It was a life…
A life long gone
