I received this interesting new submission from Paul last week. - poetheart 05/17/03
It could not have been any closer
Death was staring me in the face
I didn’t blink, but it hit me only after
The sediment was behind.
I had a human moment, a foolish moment
In which my inhibitions did not have
Time to catch up with me.
A tear came to my eye, in private
As I lay there engulfed in unsung praise
Of how I cheated a departure from this earth. My days are now shaped and my moments mean more.
My tears etched in marble below
As I realized the gravity of my doingsI truly believe I rode the chariot with
Heavenly wings abreast, steering not
By my own wisdom, but rather by ethereal means.
To be able to write about this is a
Blessing in itself and construct for
A new view on life.
