Gifted with a tendency - ability to rhyme
Redeeming social value - not necessarily seen
A focus on the spiritual - particularly keen
Created to express emotion - not to tell a story
Redemption gleaned from underneath - down in purgatory
Semantics scattered to the winds - torrential stream of meaning
Brains are taxed to comprehend - on the verge careening
A poem is a synthesis - of concepts versus facts
A form of music to the soul - a fifth and final act
Worldly stage of conflict - mind's tendency corrupt
Idealize and purify - a quantum leap abrupt
Poetry is exercise - to reach the other shore
Penetrate the cosmic veil - obscuring knowledge sure
Gainful to all troubled souls - who populate our planet
