I found this one to be very interesting... - poetheart 02/28/02
Poetry for masses? Writing by the rules.
Structure of common sense
And rules and rules.
For getting my thoughts out even without
The constraints of literary conscience
Creates challenges of great magnitude.
How can I tell my inner thoughts
To follow convention?
Isn't the purpose of relaying thought
To provoke and elicit an understanding
Or reaction? If the ideas get across
To the reader, in an abstract or
Concrete way, then isn't the goal
Accomplished? Sometimes I can't even
Talk to my Author…for he lay there
Silently letting ideas flow.
If I set the bounds even in
the periphery, can I truly
Write what the voice intends?
The question remains, what
Is the proper test? Has the poem
Made an impact, irrelevant of
Its structure? Has your view or
Heart changed? Do you look at
Things even slightly differently?
Did the architect create the structure
In your mind, irrespective of the
Structure on paper? Isn't our duty
To create meaning? That's the ultimate
Rule!
