"Scottish Pride"
("Traveler's Tale LVII")

I finally received this new Traveler's Tale from John a few days ago.  - poetheart 06/11/02

Ah, 'tis a bonnie sight indeed-
To tread me 'ighland 'eath.
Wi' Scottish sun upon me back,
An' Scottish sod beneath!

To 'ear the skirl o' pipes a'comin-
Fra' same 'ighland fling...
Wi' notes wha sound o' battles...
I can almost 'ear steel ring.

A mort o' years behind me now-
I've fought in foreign wars...
Wi' nought but gray wi'in me locks
To show, aye, an' the scars.

I've 'eard death rattles fra me mates-
As parapets we'd scale...
To die for gold, an' Scottish pride..
So goes the Traveler's Tale.
