This perceptive and insightful poem by Paul is one which I can relate to very well. I like what he expresses with this one. - poetheart 01/15/02
And there's that light
The one I look to for all my words
And moments with myself
Just sitting out there
As if waiting for me to move my gaze
In its direction
It knows I have thoughts
And ideas in me
And I believe it sees and feels my pain
It just sits there, staring back at me
And just lives.
And while it opens up my heart
And allows me to feel
It provides distant warmth
In this world full of uncertainty
I once thought that our future
Was what we made it
I now realize, the future is there
For us to adapt to
The mighty ship sails the sea
As its passenger lay stranded
In the confines of the ark
Where their direction is subject
To the whims of the mighty vessel
They believe they create the world
They don't; they learn how to adapt
